From the Beginning

The youngest of three boys. Growing up in Des Moines, Iowa. Occupying my free time with hobbies, sports, and outdoor activities. Hide and seek, riding bicycles, surviving the four seasons, and dreaming about my future kept me very busy.

Before graduating from high school, I had my own 35mm camera and makeshift dark room. Unknowing my future was destined to be in the arts,  I continued my education studying medicine and science.

Skip ahead to a successful career in medicine, specifically transplant surgery. Along the way, I continued my love of photography and was able to learn and practice experimental and traditional techniques. I loved all aspects of photography and design.

I switched directions. Retired from medicine and studied graphic arts at the University of Iowa School of Art and Art History. It was there where I obtained my Masters of Fine Arts. During this time, I founded a small design firm that specialized in photography, branding, layout, and package design. In addition to teaching as a graduate student, I kept very busy working with local businesses and state wide organizations.

In addition to the info provided above. I am a foodie. My friends are foodies, my mother was a foodie. Therefore, my recipes, and favorite dishes will be added to this blog as time permits.
